Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies, assisted by other area police, arrested a local man after a pursuit that began on River Road and East County Road 550N and eventually on to northbound I-65.

At 12:55 a.m. Friday, Bartholomew County Sheriff Deputy Deputy Nathan Holland attempted to conduct a traffic stop at the intersection of River Road and East 550 North. The suspect then fled and deputies initiated a pursuit, according to investigators.

The pursuit traveled through northern Bartholomew County before going north on I-65. The Franklin Police Department and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office utilized stop sticks to deflate the suspect’s vehicle tires near the 90 mile marker.

Bargersville Police Department then initiated a successful pit maneuver on the suspect vehicle at the 95 mile marker. The suspect, later identified as Adam Cameron, 34, of Columbus, was taken into custody.

Prior to being placed in custody, it appeared that Cameron had multiple self-inflicted lacerations on his body so he was transported to an Indianapolis hospital where he was treated and transported back to Bartholomew County.

Cameron was booked into the Bartholomew County Jail on a 48-hour-hold for the following preliminary charges:

  • Resisting law enforcement with a vehicle – Level 6 felony
  • Habitual traffic violator (HTV) – Level 6 felony

Assisting agencies were the Columbus Police Department, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Edinburgh Police Department, Franklin Police Department, Bargersville Police Department, Whiteland Police Department and Indiana State Police.
