Columbus North High School sophomore Cameron Fathauer hosted his fundraiser, “A Shot For Haiti,” during halftime of the North-East Central boys basketball game. The event featured a “Knockout” competition that raised money for Potter’s House orphanage in Vaudreil, Haiti.

1999

Cummins Engine Co. chairman Jim Henderson was named the recipient of the 1999 William R. Laws Human Rights Award by the Human Rights Commission of Columbus. The award honored a person who worked to improve relationships among all people and fight discrimination and exclusion.

1974

A spring training session and several workshops were held for residents who were interested in volunteering as Columbus Visitors Center tour guides. Panel members in the workshops included Republic Editor Robert J. Marshall, Larry Hoffman of Irwin Management and local architect James Paris.
