Crimson Pride, Grace split DH

WESTFIELD — IU Columbus baseball bounced back from a 9-5 loss to Grace in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday with a 5-4 victory in the second game at Grand Park.

The Crimson Pride outhit Grace 11-7 in the opener, but couldn’t overcome an early 6-4 deficit. Lucas Slager went 2 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs, Jared Ross and Aidan Hapner each went 2 for 3 with a double and Johnny Sewell went 2 for 4. Starter Drew Bradley took the loss.

Peyton Blinn had a two-run game-winning single in the fifth inning of the second game for the Crimson Pride. Blinn went 2 for 3 with three RBIs, while Slager added two RBIs. Darius Compton picked up the win in relief, and Cam Richey earned the save.

IUC (3-7) did not win its third game last year until the 38th game of the season.
