WESTMONT, Ill. — Michael Brinegar swam to victory in the 1,500-meter freestyle Saturday night in the TYR Pro Series event in Westmont, Illinois.
The Columbus native was clocked in 15 minutes, 9.72 seconds. Luke Whitlock of the Fishers Area Swimming Tigers finished second in 15:12.46.
Earlier in the week, Brinegar had finished second in the 800 freestyle. He was a 2021 Olympian in both the 1,500 and 800 freestyle and plans to try to make this year’s Olympic team in those two events at the 2024 Olympic Trials in June at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
