Local students serve as Indiana Senate pages

Several local students served as pages in the Indiana Senate in February for state Sen. Greg Walker (R-Columbus).

The students included:

George Bachmeyer of Columbus, Addison Butler of Trafalgar, Jackson Floyd of Columbus, Colton Pepmeier of Columbus, and Katherine Pumphrey, all of who attend ABC Stewart School in Columbus; Aaron Simmons of Columbus, who attends Indiana Connections Academy; and homeschooled Columbus student Olivia Simmons.

Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the Senate floor and interacting with their state senator.

“It’s always exciting to see students from my district participate in the page program,” Walker said. “Learning about state government is very important, and this program invites them to learn through a new experience. Thank you to all the students who participated this legislative session.”

Students in grades six through 12 participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session. Groups serve on Wednesdays.
