BLOOMINGTON — Ali Patberg, who has spent the past two years on the Indiana University women’s basketball staff, has been promoted to a full-time assistant coach.

The 2015 Miss Basketball and McDonald’s All-American from Columbus North played for the Hoosiers from 2018-22. She was the program’s team and recruitment coordinator in 2022-23 and served in that role and as an assistant coach in 2023-24.

Patberg was a four-time All-Big Ten selection, a two-time Nancy Lieberman Award finalist and a WBCA All-American honorable mention selection. She finished her career third on IU’s all-time assists list with 527 and ninth on the all-time scoring list with 1,752 points.

Patberg also was a 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-American, a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. She graduated from IU’s Kelley School of Business with a bachelor’s degree in finance in 2020 and a master’s in recreational administration in 2022.

Meanwhile, Patberg’s former teammate and roommate, Keyanna Warthen, will step into Patberg’s old role as the Hoosiers’ new team and recruitment coordinator/assistant coach. Warthen was a graduate assistant at Oklahoma State in 2022-23 and an assistant coach at Miami (Ohio) in 2023-24.

“It is especially exciting to announce these additions to our staff in two program alums who were both instrumental in building culture and success that we’ve had at Indiana,” IU coach Teri Moren said in a news release. “Ali has continued to thrive in her role on staff and has been an integral part of what Indiana women’s basketball has become. It’s such a joy to be able to bring Keyanna back home to Bloomington. She has had the opportunity to be a full-time assistant last year at Miami and will bring valuable experience for our student-athletes.”
