RICHMOND, Ky. — Eastern Kentucky’s Maddi Rutan earned a wave of honors from the ASUN Conference on Monday afternoon.
Rutan, a freshman from Columbus North, was named the ASUN Pitcher of the Year and Freshman of the Year. She also was named first-team All-ASUN and made the Academic All-SUN team.
Rutan went 23-4 with a 1.93 ERA and 144 strikeouts. She went 12-1 with a 1.63 ERA and 81 strikeouts in conference play.
On Thursday, Rutan threw a five-hitter with nine strikeouts to pick up her 23rd win of the season and also went 1 for 2 with two RBIs in a 7-2 ASUN win against Lipscomb. She went 2 for 3 with two home runs and three RBIs in a 4-1 win in the second game.
The Colonels (40-8, 21-3), who won the ASUN regular-season title, are the top seeds for the ASUN Tournament, which begins Thursday in Oxford, Alabama.
Norman named NAIA national Player of Week
Sierra Norman was named Crossroads Player of the Week, then a day later, won NAIA national Player of the Week honors last week.

Norman, a senior from Columbus North, batted .600 with a 1.100 slugging percentage and 13 RBIs during the final week of the regular season to become the school’s all-time leader in RBIs. She had 12 hits and four walks, with four multi-hit games during that week, including a three-home run, eight-RBI day in a doubleheader at Taylor.
In last week’s Crossroads League Tournament, Norman went 1 for 2 in a 10-7 win against Huntington and 2 for 3 in a 10-2 win against Indiana Wesleyan. She went 1 for 4 in a 9-5 loss to IWU before going 1 for 2 and knocking in the lone run in a 1-0 win against IWU that gave the Knights the title.
Marian will host the opening round of the NAIA Tournament May 14-16. The selection show is Tuesday.
Foster helps Orange upset No. 14 Seminoles
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Kenzie Foster scored a run Sunday to help Syracuse to a 13-5 ACC win against 14th-ranked Florida State.

Lemmons records three hits in tourney win
SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Josie Lemmons went 3 for 3 with a sacrifice Thursday in IU Southeast’s a 4-2 win against Oakland City in the River States Conference Tournament.

The Grenadiers (34-16), who won the RSC regular-season championship, have earned a bid to the NAIA Tournament and will play in the opening round on May 13. The selection show is Tuesday.
Burnett notches win for Wagner
UNION, N.J. — Alec Burnett allowed no runs and no hits over the final two innings to pick up the win Friday in Wagner’s 4-3 Northeast Conference victory at Sacred Heart.
