Columbus woman named among Indy area’s pivotal leaders

A Columbus leader is among nearly 30 leaders in central Indiana selected for Indy’s Most Pivotal Leaders, a half-day workshop unfolding today in Carmel.

Laura Garrett, director of partnerships for Landmark Columbus Foundation since 2022, is named among part of the state’s “best and brightest,” according to Chris Bittinger, president of the Indianapolis-based Open Pivot, and also founder of the Indy’s Most Pivotal Leaders event.

Open Pivot provides personalized training and coaching to support both seasoned and new leaders using what its organizers call “best practices in executive coaching.”

Garrett has been a key in recent years with recruiting a varied range of collaborators for a broad mix of Landmark Columbus programs.

“It’s an honor to have been selected to attend the leadership workshop,” Garrett said. “This is a great opportunity to learn and get to know other leaders in the state. I’m excited to bring the knowledge back to our community and continue to grow as a leader.”

Richard McCoy, founding executive director of the Landmark Columbus Foundation, said he is proud of Garrett’s work. The foundation is the umbrella agency for Exhibit Columbus, its most visible program that highlights the city’s architectural legacy.

“It’s unsurprising to me that Laura was recognized even though she lives here in Columbus,” McCoy said. “This is a testament to her strong leadership.”

As a result of Open Pivot’s coaching, leaders are refreshed, recharged, and refocused to lead and empower their organizations and communities more effectively.

Indy’s Most Pivotal Leaders, an exclusive half-day leadership workshop that inspires, connects, and refuels emerging and established leaders, has announced the members of its 2024 class. With nominees from across Central Indiana, the selection committee from Open Pivot is excited to accept outstanding participants from a talented group of candidates.

“These individuals have significantly contributed to their workplace and their community,” Bittinger said.

Indy’s Most Pivotal Leaders is an event created by Bittinger of Open Pivot.

Open Pivot functions on the “unshakeable belief that every person has the power to lead, inspire and contribute in meaningful ways,” according to its website.
