COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Emergency Management has provided a severe weather update for Sunday.
Bartholomew County remains under an enhanced risk for severe weather and slight risk for excessive rainfall Sunday.
- Greatest area for storms is south of I-74.
- Greatest chance of tornadoes is a Terre Haute to Seymour line and southwest. Cannot be ruled out in other areas.
- Damaging wind is primary threat.
The first round of storms is expected to arrive between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and the second round between 6 p.m. Sunday and 1 a.m. Monday. The best chance for severe storms is during the second round of storms.
Main threats include 1-inch hail or larger, damaging wind up to 70 mph, possible tornadoes and localized flooding.
One inch or rain or more is possible Sunday morning. The afternoon storms could bring additional heavy rainfall resulting in 3 inches or more of total rainfall for some areas. This could lead to some flash flooding.
