2014

With the help of Atlanta-based ministry 410 Bridge, two Columbus teens, Nick Waskom and Sydney Newell, raised money for a freshwater well to be built in the village of Kaihura in Uganda. The teens and their churches, Westside Community Church and The Ridge, worked together to make meeting the goal possible.

1999

Central Jazz from Central Middle School received an excellent rating and placed first in the Parks competition at Paramount’s Kings Island and trumpet Player Jacob Blasdel was named outstanding soloist. Central’s advanced band also placed first and received the only superior rating out of seven concert bands.

1974

The winners of the Banner Contest at the Columbus May Faire were announced, with Gregory Allen being awarded the Queen’s Award for the best-in-show banner. James Gupta was the Mayor’s Choice, Margaret Freede received the May Faire Theme Award, and James Froelich won the New Renaissance Award.
