City enforcing turn restrictions

Columbus police have conducted 241 traffic stops in the past two weeks near North National Road and 25th Street after receiving complaints of left turn violations.

Due to construction on North National Road with lane closures, left turns are prohibited from North National Road on to 25th Street, and signage marks the restriction at the intersection.

CPD has received multiple complaints about drivers continuing to turn left despite the no left turn signs. Turning left from North National Road backs traffic up and can be dangerous with the obstructed views, police said.

The lane restrictions are expected to continue until August. Officers are continuing focused patrols in the area, and encouraged motorists that if driving through the intersection, follow the traffic laws and the no left turn restriction.
