Edinburgh Community School Corp. recently honored four longtime employees who retired after lengthy terms of service and presented awards to top educators and staff members.
Retiring from East Side Elementary School were teachers Jennifer Garrett (32 years), Kathy Ison (27 years) and Susan Pence (17 years).
Also retiring was Debbie Behnke, secretary to the high school/middle school principal, who retired after more than 26 years.
Edinburgh schools also honored its staff members and teachers of the year, presenting awards to individuals who were nominated by parents, students, teachers, and staff.
Dylan Lang was named high school/middle school teacher of the year and Ison was named East Side teacher of the year.
Sandy Gieseking was named administration staff member; Behnke was chosen high school/middle school staff member of the year; and Jackie McGaha was selected East Side staff member of the year.
