COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies arrested a McCordsville suspet Friday after receiving a 911 call at 6:52 p.m. about a male who had stolen a tractor near West Lowell Road and North County Road 250W.
Deputies said the suspect drive the tractor several hundred yards into a field before being caught by the owner, and then the suspect fled on foot. Deputies later located the suspect urinating in a roadway.
The suspect, Derrick Jordan 20, McCordsville, then ran away from deputies into a nearby field however was quickly apprehended. During a search of Jordan, a vehicle key belonging to a Lexus passenger car and multiple vehicle registration cards to a Lexus were found in Jordan’s pocket, said Sgt Dane Duke, sheriff’s department spokesman.

A BMV check on the Lexus vehicle information found that the vehicle was reported stolen in McCordsville. Deputies later located the stolen Lexus in a nearby interstate rest stop.

Jordan was booked into the Bartholomew County Jail on the following charges: two charges of theft of a motor vehicle, public indecency and resisting law enforcement. Jordan remains in custody on a 48 hour hold.
