2014

The Columbus North High School boys golf team won the 78th Boys Golf State Finals at The Legends in Franklin, winning the title by 11 shots over runner-up Westfield. Seniors Michael VanDeventer and Christian Fairbanks shared the medalist honors.

1999

The annual Indiana Volunteer Firemen’s Association Convention Parade moved through Columbus’ downtown streets, with a 1946 open-top Ford fire engine among the many antique and contemporary trucks. The engine, owned by Hope Volunteer Fire Department, was restored and completely operable.

1974

Columbus North High School seniors Keith A. Fulp and Ben J. Kleffman won the National Troubleshooting Championship in Dallas, Texas, and received $5,000 in scholarships. Fulp and Kleffman defeated 69 other teams to capture the title in a competition testing students’ auto repair skills.
