Robert Kevin Buchanan

MARTINEZ, GEORGIA

Robert Buchanan, affectionately known as Bobby, Bob, or Buck, passed away in Docto’rs Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, on June 14, 2024. He was born in Columbus, Indiana on June 12, 1959.

Bobby graduated from Columbus East High School in 1977, where he will be remembered for riding his motorcycle through the hallways.

In the early 80s Bobby moved to Augusta, Georgia to live with his sister, Diana, where he began his new career as a Sheet Metal worker. He worked at Plant Vogle, Savannah River Plant, and later at United McGill in Fountain Inn, South Carolina, until his life changed forever due to a head on crash with a sleep impaired driver in December, 1996.

Bobby’s passion was bass fishing and he spent countless hours on Clark’s Hill Reservoir located between Georgia and South Carolina in the Savannah River basin. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, Atlanta Braves baseball games, and was a forever fan of Indiana University basketball.

Bobby never married and never had children except for his fur baby labradors. They were his best friends and a big part of his family.

Bobby was predeceased by his father, Bill Buchanan, and his brother, Mark Buchanan. He is survived by his mother, Marilyn Buchanan, his sister, Melinda Guthrie, his sister, Diana Buchanan of Prescott, Arizona, nephew, Jason Guthrie (Carolyn), niece, Chris Damle (Amol), niece, Crystal Bragg (Mike), aunt, Sharon Dorries, and uncle, Roger Buchanan.

Bobby will be sorely missed by all of his family and friends. May he rest in peace and no longer suffer from physical pain.
