Cooling stations added in Columbus and county as heat and humidity continue

Step into the Bartholomew County Public Library and you just might find yourself exploring the world in enlightening new ways. Programming for all ages ranges from fun and games to yoga. Check the listings for upcoming events or see the calendar on the library’s website at mybcpl.org/events.

Additional cooling stations have been added in Columbus and Hope as hot and humid temperatures persist in the area.

Donner Park and the Bartholomew County Library and its Hope branch will be open as cooling stations as temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-90s today with the trend continuing through the weekend.

Donner Center, 739 22nd St., will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Saturday. Crates from Columbus Animal Care are available for animals, but pets will not be allowed to roam free inside the center. Service animals do not have to be in crates.

The Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St., is open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The Hope Branch, 635 Harrison St., is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Cooling stations are a cool facility where individuals, who do not have air conditioning,
can come in to cool down and continue on their way.
Food, showers, and areas for sleep are not available.
Emergency Management officials ask that you respect the rules of the facility and other individuals in the facility.
