Looking Back – June 20

Indiana University Assistant Basketball Coach Bob Weltich gets a quick bite to eat before his round of golf on June 20, 1974, at the Harrison Lake County Club. Weltich was one of several IU coaches on hand for the 15th annual Columbus IU Varsity Club golf outing and dinner.

2014

Hundreds of Bartholomew County residents took part in Cummins’ Community Wide Recycling Day, dropping off everything from antifreeze to refrigerators and tires. More than 30 tons of items were collected, and more than 100 Cummins employees volunteered to help.

1999

Four Columbus Regional Hospital employees, Vickie Olson, Laura Richey, Jana Thompson and Pam Wendall, were recipients of $500 scholarships from the Hospital Foundation’s Borczon Scholarship Fund. The fund provided scholarships for hospital employees who planned to pursue a health-related career through post-secondary education.

The Rev. Joe G. Emerson, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Columbus, was one of the speakers at the annual Christian Mission School in Evansville. The event was sponsored by the United Methodist Women of the South Indiana Conference.
