The field of candidates for several school board seats in the fall election is set.

A total of eight people filed paperwork to run for five school board seats that will be on the ballot this fall — including three competitive races for Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. School Board seats.

This year, the BCSC School Board District 3, 5 and 7 seats are up for grabs, as well as two Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corp. School Board seats.

Turning Point Domestic Violence Services President Whittney Loyd and local finance and accounting executive David L. Theile have filed to run for the BCSC School Board District 3 seat.

Tom Glick and Leigh W. Britt have filed to run for the BCSC District 5 seat.

Current BCSC School Board President Nicole Wheeldon, the only BCSC School Board incumbent seeking another term this year, and Samantha Ison have filed to run for the BCSC School Board District 7 seat.

District 3 incumbent Todd Grimes and District 5 incumbent Pat Bryant are not seeking reelection.

In addition, two incumbents filed to run for another term on the Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corp. School Board — current board vice president Matt Bruner and current board secretary Brian William Rose. Both of them are running unopposed in the fall election.

The deadline to register to vote in the fall election is Oct. 7. Election day is Nov. 5.
