COLUMBUS
Sandy K. Axsom, 65, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 2:19 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Sandy was born in Columbus, September 16, 1958, the loving daughter of James M. Rogers and Shirley M. Boyer Rogers Wood. Sandy married Terry L. Axsom September 30, 1977; he survives.
Sandy was a 1976 graduate of Columbus North High School. A homemaker, Sandy had a long career in banking serving as branch manager for Home Federal Savings Bank and Fidelity Federal. Most recently, Sandy worked at Cummings Lighthouse in Seymour.
Sandy was a member of the Ogilville Christian Church and she cherished the time she spent with her grandkids. Sandy found joy in sewing, quilting and baking.
Surviving to cherish her life are her husband of 46 years, Terry; children, Curtis (Kelly) Axsom of Columbus and Stacey (Chad) DeBord of Columbus; her mother, Shirley Wood of Columbus: sisters, Vickie Cline of Rogers, Arkansas and Pam (Rob) Boles of North Vernon; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Sandy was preceded in death by her father, James M. Rogers and her sister, Cynthia Jane Rogers.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Dr. Martin E. Wright will officiate.
Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Sandy will be laid to rest at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
