Looking Back – June 25

One of the main attractions at the Columbus Youth Camp was Brown County Conservation Officer Rex Kritzer and a copperhead snake. Kritzer shows the snake to Boys Club Director Gene Gurthet on June 25, 1974.

2014

Edinburgh resident Diana Boggs donated her kidney to her mother, Anna Rhoades, also of Edinburgh, after Rhoades was diagnosed with Stage 5 renal disease. Other members of their family also stepped up to help in the form of raising money to help cover medical costs.

1999

First United Methodist and Asbury United Methodist churches voted to resettle two Kosovar refugee families in Columbus. Exodus Refugee Resettlement in Indianapolis worked with the churches to get the families settled after their arrival.

1974

Around 90 local boys attended the Columbus Boys Club two-week day camp at the Columbus Youth Camp west of the city. A total of 47 boys camped for the first week, and 42 boys participated the second week.
