Dorothy Jean Roark

Dorothy Jean Roark, 80, of Elizabethtown, passed away on 12:50 a.m. on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.

Born March 2, 1944, in Benham, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Henry and Mealie (Cornett) Jones. She married Garland Roark on August 9, 1969, in Virginia; he survives.

Dorothy was a 1963 graduate of Kingdom Come High School in Letcher, Kentucky. She was a homemaker/housewife and worked on the farm, she had previously worked at the former Hill Department Store in Columbus. Dorothy was a member of the Queensville Community Church and enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, reading and spending time with her family.

Surviving with her husband Garland, is her son, Kelly (Bobbie) Roark of Elizabethtown; grandchildren, Lindsey (CJ) Cravens of North Vernon, Jesse Roark and Riley Roark, both of Elizabethtown; and great-grandchild, Natalie Cravens of North Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bruce, Delbert, Cecil, Albert and Henry Ray Jones; and sisters, Odessa Lewis and Rachel Mullins.

A funeral service for Dorothy will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp &Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Scott Chastain officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. The burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024, in the Morgan Jones Family Cemetery in Ingrams Creek, Kentucky.

Memories may be made through the funeral home in honor of Dorothy to the Queensville Community Church.
