2014

Columbus North golfers Michael VanDeventer and Christian Fairbanks made history at The Legends Golf Course in Franklin by becoming the first co-champions in the 78-year history of the Indiana High School Athletic Association Boys Golf State Finals. Both shot 141 in leading Columbus North to its first team championship win in 80 years.

1999

The Bartholomew County 4-H Fair Board signed a 10-year, exclusive contract with Coca-Cola Co. in exchange for $25,000 in cash. The contract required fair vendors to sell Coca-Cola soft drinks, juices, ice teas, water and cups.

1974

William Brock of Jonesville and Harry Zeigler of Taylorsville were the first famers in the county to harvest wheat and transport it to area grain elevators. Brock took more than 400 bushels of wheat to Snyder Elevator in Elizabethtown, and Zeigler took an unknown quantity to Snyder Elevator in Taylorsville.
