Bartholomew County

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) No. 168 — 10 to 11:45 a.m., St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 719 Fifth St., Columbus.

USDA Summer Food Service Program — Noon to 1 p.m., Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St., Columbus. Food must be eaten on site and folks are not permitted to leave with the meals. Meals are free for children 18 years of age and under. Adults over the age of 18 may purchase a meal for $4.70.

Teen Chef — 1 to 2 p.m., Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St., Columbus. Make a tasty treat using frozen fresh fruit, chocolate, and sprinkles. All supplies provided.

Notary available at Hope Library — 2 to 3 p.m., Hope Branch Library, 635 Harrison St., Hope. Come to Hope Branch Library on Fridays from 2 to 3 p.m. to get items notarized by staff member notary Jennifer Pardue. Please bring photo ID. This is a Hope walk-in hour with no appointment required.

Mulch and Compost Loading — 2 to 4:30 p.m., Bartholomew County Solid Waste Management District Yard Waste Site, 720 S. Mapleton St., Columbus. Bartholomew County residents are welcome to self-load mulch and/or compost from our Yard Waste Site free of charge. $10 per pick-up truck size load of mulch or compost. Old Fashion Independence Day — 5:30 to 10 p.m., Hope Town Square, 635 Harrison St., Hope. Come show off your apple pie skills at the old-fashioned 4th celebration in the town square. Judges will be there to admire your work, taste your creations, and give their expert opinion on who has the best apple pie in town. There will also be fireworks at dusk, Little Mr. & Miss Firecracker for ages 3-10, and bike, trike, or stroller parade for kids under 12.

Laughing Jack on the Plaza — 6 to 7 p.m., Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St., Columbus. Join us on the Library Plaza for a concert by Laughing Jack. Acoustic tunes, ballads, shanties and songs of America, Ireland and the British Isles. And sometimes Pirates.

Teen Date Night: Tie Dye & Karaoke — 6 to 8 p.m., The Landmark, 729 Washington St., Columbus. Grab a partner or your besties and create your own personal tie-dye creation and sing all of your favorite songs. All materials will be provided.
