Retired Army Sgt. Roy Lee, his wife, Alicia, and their six children moved to Hope from New Castle when they received a mortgage-free house through the Military Warriors Support Foundation.

1999

10-year pig-showing veteran Annie Lyn Fiesbeck was crowned the Bartholomew County 4-H Fair Queen. She presided over a variety of fair activities and competed in the working chute competition with her cows.

1974

Janis Valdmanis of Columbus was named the winner of the color division, animals category of The Republic’s annual photo contest. The winning photo of her cat “won by a whisker” according to the judges.
