Big Brothers Big Sisters program honored

Foundation for Youth’s Big Brothers Big Sisters program was recognized as a Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) Platinum Award Winner for program excellence in 2023 at the 2024 BBBSA National Conference in Dallas.

This award recognizes remarkable achievements in retaining the number of mentors (“Bigs”) and youth (“Littles”) matched through the program, consistently from year to year, and exceptional growth, serving 44% more youth in 2023 than the previous year.

“It is exciting for us to be recognized with this award. This is not just a Big Brothers Big Sisters achievement, it signals growth and strength for our entire community,” said Kelly Backmeyer, program director of BBBS of Bartholomew County. “Our dedicated staff and volunteers strive to support our local youth through quality mentorship. The need for Bigs continues to grow, if you have ever thought about becoming a Big but haven’t applied, now is the time — today is a great day to decide to help a child in our community.”

Foundation For Youth offers high-quality youth and community programs, including the Boys & Girls Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Columbus Youth Camp, Substance Prevention, Athletics, Aquatics, and Life Skills classes in the BCSC school system.
