CPD hires 2 new officers

Colon Santiago

Columbus Mayor Mary Ferdon swore in two new Columbus Police Department officers Tuesday at the city’s Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.

Luis Colon Santiago (Badge #298) is from Puerto Rico and graduated from Columbus North High School. After high school, he served eight years in the US Marine Corps as a communications technician. He continued his work as a military contractor in Germany after his honorable discharge.

Devin Fearrin (Badge # 299) is from Lebanon, Indiana, where he went to high school. After graduating, he served in the Army National Guard as a military police officer for just under four years. While in the National Guard, Fearrin attended Indiana State University, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree majoring in cyber criminology. Most recently, Fearrin worked as a special deputy assigned to the jail for the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

In the coming weeks, Colon Santiago and Fearrin will start their training with CPD instructors before going to the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in August.
