Alongsider Church — Alongsider is a community of house churches coming together to worship as one church at YES Cinema on the first and third Sundays of the month. It’s a place of belonging where members learn, grow, experience community and pray together.

House churches meet in neighborhoods on the second and fourth Sundays for worship through conversational study and community building. The congregation focuses on care and connection, prayer, and sending one another out.

Asbury United Methodist Church — Asbury offers a traditional service at 8:45 a.m. and a contemporary service at 11 a.m. Nursery is available for both services. Kids’ church is offered only at the 11 a.m. service. Sunday school classes meet at 10 a.m. Asbury offers a variety of classes and group studies at various times during the week. Central Heights Church of God — The church offers 9:30 a.m. Sunday school for all ages and worship services at 10:30 a.m. The message will be led by Pastor Jason Johnson. Children’s church takes place during service and a nursery is available.

East Columbus United Methodist Church — Sunday morning worship service begins at 9 a.m. The morning blended worship service includes praise music and traditional hymns. Children receive a special message during children’s moment and are dismissed for children’s church during the service. Sunday school begins at 10:10 a.m. with classes for all age groups. Holy Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month.

Fairlawn Presbyterian Church — The church has in-person and Zoom services at 9:30 a.m. To join on Zoom, email the church office at [email protected] to request a Zoom link.

Fellowship and coffee hour is every Wednesday at 7 p.m. Contact the church for the Zoom link.

Women’s Bible study is the third Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m.

Faith Lutheran Church — Worship each Sunday begins at 9 a.m. in person and livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page. Most Sundays, Sunday school and an adult Bible study are offered from 10:15 to 11 a.m. Wednesday evening worship is offered at 6:30 p.m. each week.

Preschool classes continue throughout the school year and the congregation offers an afterschool program each school day from 3 to 6 p.m. with busing from Southside Elementary.

First Baptist Church — Worship begins at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings, with a nursery and children’s programming available. The church also has several Sunday school offerings and different Bible study groups that meet throughout the week. Women’s Bible study is Thursdays at 9 a.m. in the chapel and men’s Bible study is Fridays at 7 a.m. in the fellowship hall.

First Lutheran Church — First Lutheran Church offers in-person worship on Sunday mornings at 8:45 a.m. for the traditional service and 11:15 a.m. for the contemporary service. First United Methodist Church — On Sunday, June 30, at 10 a.m., the Rev. Howard Boles will deliver the message, “Holy Interruptions”. The scripture will be Mark 5:21-43. The church encourages those attending in person to arrive 10 minutes before the service. Child care will be available from 9:45 a.m. until the end of the 10 a.m. service. Sunday school for children ages 4-12 will start at 9 a.m.

For those unable to attend the in-person service or not yet comfortable meeting in person, service livestreams will be available on the church Facebook page and the church YouTube channel (FUMC Columbus). Videos will be available on the church website for later viewing as well.

The Staff Parish Committee is pleased to welcome our new associate pastor, Mackenzie Phillips, who joins our staff on July 1. The committee will host a reception where you can meet Mackenzie on Sunday, July 7, after worship. Please join us in welcoming her to Columbus and First UMC, and don’t forget to wear your name tag!

Christian Education is looking for volunteers for the fall, including a Sunday school teacher who can volunteer on a rotation, as well as a youth group second adult. If you are interested in helping out, email Shana at [email protected].

Our next brown bag luncheon will be at noon Wednesday, July 17. This is an informal gathering of folks who share lunch and conversation together. There is no particular agenda, just a chance to enjoy one another’s company. Bring a lunch and we’ll take care of the rest.

The church picnic will be Sunday, Aug. 4, at Donner Park. The church is planning to have an auction to raise funds for the 2025 mission trip to Guatemala. If you have items to donate, contact the church office.

Garden City Christian Church — Sunday school classes are available for infants through adults at 9 a.m. At 10 a.m. on Sunday mornings, the church offers a blended worship service as well as classes for kids through fifth grade. The current Sunday sermon series is “The Book of Romans: The Power of the Gospel” led by Pastor Brian Gilroy.

Wednesday evening Bible Study, “The Life of Moses,” is at 6:30 p.m. weekly.

Mount Pleasant Christian Union Church — The church invites the community to visit the little 150-year-old country church for a 10:30 a.m. service every Sunday. The church preaches out of the King James Bible and sings out of hymn books. The church is Bible-based, Christ-centered, and spirit-led.

Petersville United Methodist Church — On Sunday, June 30, at the 9 a.m. worship service, Pastor Luis Otero of the Los Galileos will be our guest speaker. Los Galileos meets at Sandy Hook United Methodist Church each Sunday at 2 p.m. Pastor Otero’s message, “Be There!” will be on the scripture of Psalm 24:3.

Kathy Bush will serve as song and worship leader. Teresa Covert will share the children’s sermon. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow the service. The service will be available to view on Facebook throughout the week.

Anyone in the community is invited to enjoy a meal and a time of sharing at “The Table” at the church every second Thursday at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall. There is no charge for the meal, and the next gathering will take place July 11.

Vacation Bible School will be held July 8, 9, 10 jointly with First Lutheran Church and Sandy Hook United Methodist Church. Information and enrollment are on each church’s website.

Sandy Hook United Methodist Church — The church gathers weekly for in-person and online worship. This Sunday, June 30, service starts at 11 a.m. Pastor Paul Dazet will bring a message, “Why Do The Innocent Suffer?” as part of the sermon series, “Wrestling with Doubt”.

Sunday school is offered for all ages from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. The nursery is available from 9:30 a.m. until after service. Online services can be found on the church Facebook page or YouTube channel.

An outdoor service will be on July 7 at 11 a.m. with a pitch-in picnic to follow. Bring your own lawn chairs and a dish to share.

“Deep Sea” Vacation Bible School will be July 8 to 10 from 6 to 8 p.m., except the last night, which will be until 8:30 p.m. The event will take place Monday, July 8, at Petersville UMC; Tuesday, July 9, at First Lutheran Church; and Wednesday, July 10, at Sandy Hook UMC. St. Paul Lutheran Church — Pastor Doug Bauman will present the message, “Great Unfaithfulness, Great Faithfulness” based on Lamentations 3:22-33 Sunday at the 8 and 10:45 a.m. services. Both services will include prayers for our country and her leaders and will recognize living and deceased members who have served in our nation’s armed forces.

Christian fellowship begins at 9:10 a.m. with Christian education classes for all ages beginning at 9:30 a.m. Kantor Dan Mau will lead a church music study entitled “Looking Back to Move Forward” during the adult class in the fellowship room. The Spanish worship service will be led by Pastor Dan Fickenscher in the fellowship room at 10:45 a.m. with Spanish Bible study at noon.

Matins prayer service is offered each Wednesday in the church at 10:15 a.m. preceded by a 9 a.m. Bible study led by Fickenscher.

Radio worship service is every Sunday at 9:30 a.m., and “The Lutheran Hour” is every Sunday at 7 p.m., both on WYGS 91.1 FM.
