HOPE — The Yellow Trail Museum presented an Old Fashioned Independence Day in the Hope Town Square on Friday, which celebrated the country’s 248th birthday.

Keeping with the historical theme, everything could have been seen during a Fourth of July celebration a century ago.

Festivities included an apple pie contest, cake walk, parade of decorated bicycles, watermelon seed spitting contest, sack races, tug of war, water balloon toss, and of course, a firework show.

Carson Lazzel and Alani Hatton were crowned as Mr. and Miss Firecracker.

Music was provided by the Banister Family Bluegrass Band.
