Columbus East High School graduate Emma Alexander was named the 2014 Bartholomew County 4-H Fair Queen. She won the judge’s favor and the crown over 16 other candidates during the pageant in Columbus North High School’s auditorium.
1999
Members of the town council from Miyoshi, Japan, Columbus’ sister city, visited Columbus and Indianapolis. Their visit included tours of Cummins Engine Co., Diamet Corp. and the Columbus Visitors Center.
1974
Seven Donner Swim Club members — Tina Richardson, Geoff Mann, Dave Phillips, Roland Tarry, Laura Lutes, Bill Stambaugh and Ken Fuhrman, achieved “A” cutoff times at the Indianapolis Swim Club’s “B” Invitational at Northeastway Park Pool. The meet was in preparation for the state age group championships later in the season.
