Columbus Fire Department promotes 10-year firefighter

The Columbus Fire Department has announced the promotion of firefighter Cory Hampton to the rank of Lieutenant Officer.

Hampton is a graduate of Hauser High School and has served 10 years with the Columbus Fire Department. Hampton has served as a member of the CFD Hazardous Materials Response Team since 2016 and also served as a co-chair of the Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund from 2017 to 2023. Hampton was awarded the department’s Medal of Valor in 2021 for heroic actions that resulted in the successful rescue of a person trapped in a residential fire.

Hampton holds a State of Indiana fire officer I certification. Hampton’s additional certifications include: confined space rescue technician, advanced emergency medical technician, hazardous materials technician, rope rescue technician, swift water rescue technician, vehicle and machinery rescue technician and fire instructor.

Hampton has been assigned to serve as the Fire Station 5 company officer of Battalion B.
