2014

Rich Freeland was promoted to president and chief operating officer of Cummins Inc. by Chairman and CEO Tom Linebarger. Freeland said the change would allow Linebarger to focus more on leading the company’s strategy.

1999

Columbus Industrial Electric celebrated its 25th anniversary with a tour of the facility and technology displayed by vendors. The company had also recently celebrated a transfer of ownership from founders Ralph and Mary Deppe to their son, Steven.

1974

Tim Hittle, Greg Smith, Jon Finke, Mark Jones, Jeff Phillips and Ed Pence, all students at Columbus North High School, participated in the Carmel 24-Hour Relay. Each boy completed about 20 miles in the 24 hours.
