* To borrow one of the city’s modern promotional phrases, the new coffee table book on Columbus is different by design. Columbus native Matt Shaw, photographer Iwan Baan and graphic designer Alex Lin have worked together with arts publisher Monacelli Press and a host of financial supporters to produce “American Modern: Architecture, Community, Columbus Indiana.” The book blends the city’s history with leaders’ Modernist vision to show the reader “an example of how design can help foster a remarkable community,” according to one online promo. All three members of the volume’s trio will be on hand for the grand, Landmark Columbus Foundation book launch beginning at 4 p.m. today with tours of the former North Christian Church, 850 Tipton Lane in Columbus. There will also be remarks from the book team and signings at 7:30 p.m. Information: https://landmarkcolumbusfoundation.org.
