2014

Columbus and Bartholomew County were among the top 10 out of 41 communities in The Way to Wellville Challenge. The Health Initiative Coordinating Council (HICCup) was set to arrive in Columbus for a site visit on Aug. 4 to decide the top five communities.

1999

The 76th Infantry Brigade took part in the largest training exercise in Camp Atterbury history with a simulation set to last two weeks at Camp Atterbury and Freeman Field in Seymour. The events were designed to prepare the brigade, also known as the Nighthawks, for training at the Joint Readiness Training Center in Fort Polk, La. in May 2000.

1974

Six new postcards went on sale at the Columbus Visitors Center, each displaying a photo taken by a local photographer and member of the Columbus Camera Club. Photographers included were Frank Dell, Neil Huffman, Retha Jenkins and Harold Hilderbrand.
