24-hour game night to benefit Cheer Fund

Gamers will gather next weekend for a marathon session benefiting one of Columbus’ favorite and longest-serving charities.

The annual Christmas in July — 24 Hour Board Game-A-Thon returns to Hotel Indigo, 400 Brown St., Columbus, on Friday, July 19.

Gamers will begin playing at 6 p.m. Friday and continue till 6 p.m. Saturday, raising money for the Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund.

Participants are encouraged to bring a favorite tabletop board game to play with others or play a game from the hotel’s game library.

A minimum donation of $30 for adults and $15 for those ages 11 to 17 will support the Cheer Fund. Children younger than 11 will be admitted at no charge with a paying adult. A silent auction of board games also will raise money to benefit the Cheer Fund.

Each year since 1930, the Cheer Fund has provided holiday gifts for children in need. Last year, the cheer fund provided gift boxes to more than 1,200 Bartholomew County youngsters.
