St. Bartholomew plans plant-based diet event

St. Bartholomew Catholic Church plans an “Introduction to a Plant-Based Diet” event at the church from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. The event will take place in the youth ministry space at the church, 1306 27th St.

Lori Moses of Double Oak Farm will discuss her journey in the production of fresh local produce and will demonstrate how to incorporate more healthy foods in our diets.

The program is presented as part of the parish’s “Living Laudato Si’” (On Care for Our Common Home) series.

“Plant-based diets, small scale farming and sustainable food production are all topics with connections to the care of ourselves, of each other, and of our planet,” the church said in announcing the event.

The program will provide information about the rewards of local consumer supported agriculture, regenerative farming practices and the health benefits of organic food production.

Participants are invited to bring a brown-bag plant-based lunch, and the church will provide healthy drinks and desserts.
