The Columbus Park Foundation’s efforts to add a girl’s locker room to the Hamilton Community Center and Ice Arena continue with a crowdfunding project through the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority.

The IHCDA’s CreatINg Places program takes online donations and matches the goal amount if it is reached in the set time limit. In the case of this project, if $50,000 is raised by Sep. 13, the IHCDA will match that number.

“The proposal for the new girls’ locker room aligns perfectly with CreatINg Place’s mission to provide safe and nurturing environments where individuals can thrive,” said Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, in a press release from the IHCDA.

The space will include showers and restrooms, and will also be able to be used for events when not in use as a locker room.

Fundraising efforts toward the $400,000 end goal began with a January polar plunge organized by the Columbus Parks Foundation raising around $10,000. Since then, campaigns have raised $38,000 and the project is still expecting a $200,000 contribution from the city.

If interested in donating online, the campaign can be found at www.patronicity.com/creatingplaces.

The Columbus Park Foundation is also accepting donations offline. Cash or check can be mailed to Columbus Park Foundation, P.O. Box 858, Columbus, IN 47202
