Every four years, Indiana Swimming combines the Age Group State Championships with the Senior State Championships for a four-day meet, with swimmers from ages 8 to 20 competing at the same championships.
This year, 1,510 swimmers representing 73 teams from across the state competed with the seniors swimming prelims at Center Grove High School and finals at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, and the age groupers swimming both prelims and finals at the Natatorium in the Indiana Swimfest Championships.
Club Olympia took its biggest squad of age groupers (15 individuals and two relay alternates), but its smallest number of senior swimmers (one), and finished 21st in combined scoring with 285.5 points, less than 10 points out of the top 20. The boys finished in 16th, just nine points out of the top 15.
Josh Pendleton, swimming in his last long course age group state meet, was the high scorer for Club Olympia with 99 points to finish in fourth for 13-14 Boys high point scoring. Pendleton won the 13-15 Boys 800-meter freestyle and 1,500 freestyle and placed second in the 400 freestyle, third in the 200 butterfly and sixth in the 200 freestyle and 400 individual medley.
Pendleton’s younger brother Chad scored 40 points in the 10-and-under Boys division. He finished third in the 200 freestyle, fifth in the 100 butterfly, 10th in the 200 IM and 14th in the 100 freestyle, as a 9-year-old. He also took 19th in the 50 butterfly.
Vivan Shah scored three points by placing 14th in the 10U Boys 200 IM. Shah also was 17th in the 100 backstroke, 18th in the 100 butterfly, 24th in the 100 freestyle and 25th in the 50 butterfly.
Club Olympia’s Vivan Shah, Sathak Deshmukh, Aradh Thokade and Chad Pendleton finished sixth in the 10-and-under Boys 200-meter freestyle relay at last weekend’s Indiana Swimfest Championships at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis.

Chad Pendleton and Shah combined with Sarthak Deshmukh and Arash Thokade, to score 26 points by placing sixth in the 10U Boys 200 freestyle relay and 10 points by placing 12th in the 200 medley relay.
Camila Mejia Murguia finished with 27 points by placing ninth in the 11-12 Girls 50 butterfly and 200 butterfly, 12th in the 50 freestyle, 13th in the 100 butterfly and 16th in the 200 freestyle.
Club Olympia’s Lexi Miller finsihed eighth in the 13-14-year-old Girls 400-meter freestyle at last weekend’s Indiana Swimfest Championships at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis.

Lexi Miller scored 17 points by placing eighth in the 11-12 Girls 400 freestyle,12th in the 200 backstroke and 16th in the 100 backstroke.
Rebeca Mejia Murguia scored 10 points by finishing 10th in the 11-12 Girls 200 butterfly, 15th in the 100 breaststroke and 16th in the 200 breaststroke.
The Mejia Murguia sisters and Miller combined with Lily Pendleton to score 18 points by placing ninth in the 200 medley relay. The Mejia Murguias also swam with Pendleton and Grey Bateman to score six points by finishing in 14th in the 200 freestyle relay.
Shreyan Kulkarni scored nine points by placing ninth in the 11-12 Boys 200 butterfly. He also placed 17th (first alternate) in the 200 backstroke, 18th in the 200 freestyle (second alternate), 22nd in the 100 butterfly and 200 IM and 30th in the 100 backstroke.
Arjun Agarkar scored in his first ever individual swim at state, tying for 15th in the 11-12 Boys 50 freestyle.
Xavier Zhang placed 23rd in the 11-12 Boys 400 freestyle. Aahan Gupta also competed in the 11-12 Boys 400 freestyle, finishing 28th.
Agarkar, Kulkarni, Gupta and Zhang scored 12 points by taking in 11th in the 200 freestyle relay. They also scored four points in the 200 medley relay by placing 15th.
Connelly Furnish scored three points by placing 14th in the Women’s Open 1500 freestyle. Furnish also was 26th in the 800 freestyle and 42nd in the 400 freestyle.

Myra Jaryal competed in her first state championship and placed 23rd in the 10U Girls 100 Breaststroke and 30th in the 200 freestyle.
