AVON, INDIANA, FORMERLY OF COLUMBUS

Janice D. Blair, of Avon, Indiana, formerly of Columbus, passed from this life at 8:20 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Brownsburg Healthcare Center at the age of 87.

Mrs. Blair was born in Reading, England, the daughter of Lilian White Jackson and Edward Jackson. She was the wife of Donald G. Blair to whom she was married to for nearly 19 years from June 5, 1976 until his death March 17, 1995.

Mrs. Blair graduated from Clare High School in Clare, Michigan. She was a customer service representative at Indiana Gas Company. She later retired as a bookkeeper at Columbus Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Blair was an avid and talented knitter; she enjoyed making sweaters and afghans for her grandchildren. One of her other favorite pastimes was reading.

Mrs. Blair will be remembered by her sons, John E. (Dixie) Haselden of Avon, Brian P. (Meg) Haselden of Carrollton, Texas and James E. (Laurie) Haselden of Oregon, Wisconsin; grandchildren, John Dean (Abbie) Haselden of Ft. Wayne, Kathryn (Andrew) Ayers of Brownsburg, Joseph Haselden of Indianapolis and David Haselden of Irving, Texas; and great-grandchildren Kathryn Rose and John Carl Haselden and Alice and Vivienne Ayers.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2024, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Pastor Jim Pursley will officiate. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Blair will be laid to rest next to her husband in Section 83 at Garland Brook Cemetery. In memory of Mrs. Blair, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice of charities.
