The Tough Mudder Indiana is back for another run this weekend.

About 4,000 competitors will make their way to Ceraland for this year’s event, which takes place Saturday and Sunday.

Participants have a 15K and a 5K option. The 15K (9.3 miles) features 24 obstacles, while the 5K (3.1 miles) has 13 obstacles.

“The same atmosphere, the same fun,” race director Jonathan Embler said. “There’s nothing as far as new obstacles or initiatives, but we have some new sponsors. It’s realatively the same course and the same great location. This place is great. It’s a beautiful place.”

Embler, who lives in Utah, is making his debut as a race director. His crew started setting up Thursday morning and will continue through Friday afternoon or early evening.

Waves for the 15K will go off at 8 and 9 a.m. Saturday, followed by waves for the 5K at 10 and 11 a..m. and noon. Sunday will feature waves at 9 and 10 a.m. with a mix of 15K and 5K competitors.

As of Monday afternoon 3,120 athletes had signed up to compete on Saturday, with another 674 registered for Sunday. Signups are available until race day at toughmudder.com and at the event beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday.

This is the fifth year that Ceraland has hosted the Tough Mudder Indiana. Ceraland director Jim Kreutzjans said the venue has two more years after this year left on its contract with the Tough Mudder organization.

“It’s been a great year of baseball tournaments and outside recreation, and from a Tough Mudder perspective, this is going to be a similar event to what it’s been in the past,” Kreutzjans said. “It’s been a great group to work with. We’re excited to have them.”
