Staton sweeps four divisions of racing at Jennings County Kart Track

Macy Staton was the big winner on July 20 when the Jennings County Kart Track hosted 100 entries for its racing program at the Jennings County 4-H Fairgrounds in North Vernon.

Staton swept the four divisions in which she competed, including junior champ, pro purple, junior 1 champ and junior 2 purple plate. Other winners were Clay Kelly (kid kart), Travis Schomer (rookie red), Hank Woodruff (clone lite), Luke Hannah (beginner champ), Travis Wilburn (clone sumo heavy), Elijah Knoke (rwyb), Daniel Burton (flathead), Jacob Chadd (junior 3 blue plate), Ron Sipes (pure stock 3350), Robby Young (clone heavy and clone medium), Chris Rose (SBO) and Robert Doyle (senior champ).

The next event for the Jennings County Kart Track will be on Aug. 3.

Peeden wins at Circle City

Steve Peeden won the Indiana Late Model Series race on July 19 at Circle City Raceway in Indianapolis. Tyler Neal was second, followed by Jug Wethington, Alan Magner and Marty O’Neal. Harley Burns won the sprint car feature over Derek Crane, Tres Mehler, Matt Humphrey and Tyler Miller. Lee Hobbs won the super stock feature over Zach Sasser, Isaiah Sasser, Cale Kern and Jordan Almanza.

Moles wins at Paragon

Mitchel Moles won the Leon Gentry Memorial for sprint cars on July 20 at Paragon Speedway. Carson Garrett was second, followed by Jake Scott, Shane Cottle and Travis Berryhill. Steve Peeden of Martinsville won the crate late model feature over Tyler Neal, Tyler Cain, Derek Groomer and Marty O’Neal. Groomer won the modified feature over Brayden Watson, Jarod Deckard, Roger Mills, and Scott Ricketts. Isaiah Sasser of Bedford won the super stock feature over Cale Kern, Zach Sasser, Broc Burton and Josh Litton.

Welch wins at Bloomington

Jordan Welch of Clayton won the IMCA RaceSaver sprint car feature on July 19 at Bloomington Speedway. Levi Hinck was second, followed by Bradley Sterrett, John Paynter Jr. and Jeff Wimmenauer. Ty Bland won the hornet division feature over Jeremy Shemwell, Skylar Ashley, Kevin Umphress and Shannon Walp. Todd Moule won the 410-sprint car feature over Joe B. Miller, Geoff Dodge, Ayrton Gennetten and Sterling Cling.

From 70 years ago in 1964 at Columbus Speedway, Gene Minor won the feature race over Al Perry, Ernie Brewer, Jim Quillen and Harry King.

From 50 years ago in 1974 at Twin Cities, Johnny Robbins won the feature race over Jim Raymer, Richard Cook, Hillbilly Ogle and Clyde James.

From 50 years ago at the 25th Street Fairgrounds Speedway in Columbus, John Warner won the late model feature over Gene Petro, Paul Crockett, Luther Burton and Tommy Day.

Also from 50 years ago, Bob Kinser won the sprint car feature at Paragon over Bobby Black, Frank Hollingsworth, Leon Thickstun and Mike Waltz.

From 1974 at Bloomington, Dick Gaines won the sprint car feature over Bobby Black and Bob Kinser. Ira Bastin won the late model feature over Russ Petro.

From 40 years ago in 1984 at Twin Cities, Steve Boley won the late model feature over Scott McKeand, Bud Seymour, Buck Ross and Marvin Strong. Mark Barber won the modified street stock feature over Billy Filburn, Powell Ballard, Phil Fultz and Earl Plessinger. Randy Petro won the street stock feature over Ray Hughes, Dan Sallee and Randy Lucas.

From 30 years ago in 1994 at Brownstown, C.J. Rayburn won the late model feature over Don O’Neal, John Gill, Dion Deason and Doug Ault. Tim Clark won the street stock feature over Joe Johnson, Jeff Hehman, Randy Petro and Darin George. Scott Smith won the modified feature over Terrence Johnson, Gary Bland, Alan Magner and Brad Barrow. Bruce Turner won the bomber feature over Larry Long, Terrence Johnson, Robbie Wilson and Charlie Stevens Jr.

Also from 1984 at Lawrenceburg, Greg Staab won the sprint car feature over Randy Kinser, Leon Thickstun, Danny Milburn and Marvin Deputy. Gary Herbert won the late model feature over Jeff Herbert, Chris Fox, Len Spille and Larry Detmer.

Also from 1994 at Haubstadt, Dave Blaney won the World of Outlaws Sprint Car feature over Jeff Swindell, Jac Haudenschild, Mark Kinser and Greg Hodnett.

From 1994 at Bloomington, Kelly Kinser won the sprint car feature over Randy Kinser, Danny Smith, Brad Devereaux, and Joe Miller. Scott Patman won the street stock feature over Dan Sturgeon, Joe Lucas, Matt Tiller and Jack Frye. Tony Godsey won the modified feature over Brad Barrow, Alan Magner, Dale Dubois and Lee Hobbs.

Also from 40 years ago at Paragon, Danny Smith won the sprint car feature over Kelly Kinser, Randy Kinser, Bob Kinser and Terry Pletch. Denny Campbell won the street stock feature over Joe Lucas, Eddie Kindred, Gary Trammell and Vince McClure.

From 20 years ago inn 2004 at Brownstown, Dan Sturgeon won the late model feature over Mark Barber, Steve Barnett, Frankie Coomer and Steven Godsey. Jeff Bland Jr. won the modified feature over Brent Londeree, Earl Plessinger, Lee Hobbs and Alan Magner. Clifton Barron took the bomber feature over Steven Godsey, Mike Seal, Paul Owens and Jamey Wilson.

Also from 20 years ago at Twin Cities, Mike Fields won the super stock feature over Tim Clark, Troy Clark, Kevin Applegate and Todd Gilpin. Garnett Eldridge won the pure stock feature over Tim Clark, Willie Sallee, Dennis Knotts and Mark Bruce. Seth Hull won the mini stock feature over Mickey Roberts, Justin Burdette, Brandon Carr and Billy Moore.
