2014

Ivy Tech Community College Columbus students Abdiel and Abner Garcia of Seymour, each won a $5,000 scholarship from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Criminal Justice Institute, Department of Labor, Department of Transportation and the Indiana State Police in the TXT L8R social media contest. The brothers won the contest with a video they made on the social media platform Vine.

1999

Brownie Troop 187 of Columbus visited the Mauxberry Equine Center to learn about horses to earn their Horse Fun Badge. During the visit, the Brownies wrote an essay and learned about horses and saddles.

1974

The Morningside Addition Community Development Center opened in a vacant house at 530 Parkway Drive in Columbus. The center was sponsored by the Columbus Housing Improvement Project (CHIP) and was expected to be a community gathering spot.
