Jim Wint, 11, was named Grand Champion in 4-H soybeans with his entry in the stalk division and Cindy Carson, 17, was named Outstanding 4-H Livestock Exhibitor at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fair on July 30, 1974.

After a traumatic spinal injury at age 17, 24-year-old Mitchell Robinson was making huge strides in his recovery, including working on his swing with golf instructor Jeff Smith at Otter Creek Golf Course.
1999
Safe Kids of Bartholomew County purchased 143 bicycle helmets with a $1,000 grant from the Indiana Safe Kids Coalition, then gave them away at a bicycle rodeo at Ivy Tech in Columbus. Safe Kids of Bartholomew County was formed by members of Leadership Bartholomew County’s Class of 1999.
1974
The Bartholomew County Association for Disabled Citizens was presented with a check for $6,800.22 from the Columbus Educators Association, which was raised during the association’s “Ride-A-Bike for the Disabled” event in April.
