DNR officials have ended today’s search for the missing 70-year-old male in Grandview Lake and will resume the search early Thursday morning.
4:44 p.m. update
The search for a missing 70-year-old male in Grandview Lake has resumed as the weather has cleared enough for boats to be out on the water.
4:15 p.m.
A search for a missing 70-year-old in Grandview Lake is currently on hold as thunderstorms pass through the area, according to Indiana Conservation Officer Travis Stewart, public information officer on the scene.
The search, using boats and side-scan sonar, will resume when the weather passes until it gets dark, Stewart said.
At approximately 11:14 a.m. Wednesday, responders were notified the man was in the water floating in the lake with his feet on a jet ski when he went under and did not resurface.
The man was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident.
The identity of the man is being withheld pending family notification. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
Conservation Officers are being assisted by the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department, Southwest Volunteer Fire Department, Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department, Columbus Township Fire Department and Columbus Regional Heath.

Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies said divers have been pulled from the Grandview Lake search due to lightning in the area. DNR continues to search with sonar from boats on the lake.

1:30 P.M. UPDATE:
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says searchers are looking for a 70-year-old man who is missing in Grandview Lake, reported missing at about 11:15 a.m.
DNR officials said the man was floating in the water with his feet on the back of a jet ski when for some reason he disappeared underwater and did not resurface.
Rescue boats are out on the water now searching for him.

ORIGINAL STORY
COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County first responders and the Indiana conservation orricers are staging at the boat ramp at Grandview Lake in western Bartholomew County on the report of a missing person in the water.
At about 11:30 a.m., the individual had reportedly been missing for about 20 minutes.
The Bartholomew County Sheriff water rescue team, DNR and the Columbus Fire Department have been sent to the scene.
