Columbus North graduate Tessa Krempel won the Girls 17-18-year-old national championship in the discus during the Junior Olympic Nationals in Humble, Texas. Tessa’s twin sister, Mara, finished 12th in the discus and 24th in the hammer.

1999

The Columbus Economic Development Board received international recognition from the Council for Urban Economic Development for attracting foreign investment to the city. The Economic Development Reverse Investment Gold Award was presented to Brooke Tuttle, president of the local economic development board, at the council’s annual meeting in Chicago.

1974

Warren K. Broady and Orville McIntyre, both of Columbus, won black-and-white portable television sets at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fair. The sets were gifted from Country Squire Lakes near North Vernon and the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
