The Columbus branch of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles started offering automated driving tests in 11 different languages, which earned praise from local diversity group leaders, including Vinay Swargan, president of the Indian Association of Columbus. Languages included for the test were Japanese, German, simplified Chinese, Spanish, Arabic, Burmese, Chin, Korean, Punjabi, Russian and Vietnamese.

Eastside Community Center, Main Street Columbus and Columbus Youth Camp received grants from the Bartholomew County Telecommunications Committee to help with website development, radio communication equipment and a technology center. Eastside Community Center received $12,935, Main Street Columbus received $4,670 and Columbus Youth Camp received $4,760.

The Senior Babe Ruth All-Stars of Columbus won the opening game of the Ohio Valley Regional Baseball Championships in Appleton, Wis. The tournament featured the Senior Babe Ruth champions from seven Midwestern states.
