2014

Mt. Healthy Elementary School Principal Amy Wetherald, Clifty Creek Elementary School Principal Gina Pleak, and L. Francis Smith Elementary School Principal Jay Payne were all navigating their first day of school in a new building, and Cathy Jackson, Cory Irwin and Kaity Day tackled their first days as assistant principals at Southside Elementary, Central Middle School and L.C. Schmitt Elementary respectively.

1999

About 36,000 ears of corn were donated to food pantries that served low-income residents of Bartholomew, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson, Scott, Lawrence, Ripley and Jefferson counties after four acres of sweet corn were harvested. Two of the pantries included were Human Services, Inc. and Love Chapel in Columbus, which received 1,440 ears.

1974

Children under 14 years old had a chance to visit with relatives who were patients in the Bartholomew County Hospital during “Visiting Hour,” which was broadcasted by the Video Access Center on Channel 7. Patients were able to see the children over the television and spoke with them through a telephone.
