A pipe organ dating back to 1923 was gifted to St. John’s Lutheran Church White Creek by the family of Bartholomew County native James Blomenburg. He won the organ in an auction in 1989 and his family decided to donate it to the church after his passing in 2009.
1999
Columbus native and rookie NASCAR driver Tony Stewart was named as the new Arvin Industries spokesman for television, radio and print advertising. Stewart was set to make personal appearances and speak with Arvin’s employees.
1974
Jenny Austin, a 1974 graduate of Jennings County High School, was chosen for the 1973-74 edition of “Who’s Who Among American High School Students.” The award publication was the largest in the nation and included students who excelled in academics, athletics, extracurricular activities and community service from 20,000 schools across the country.
