City accepts completion of portions of NexusPark

City officials voted to accept reports completed by a construction and architectural services firm signifying that portions of NexusPark are sufficiently complete.

The Columbus Board of Public Works and Safety voted to approve certificates of substantial completion for the parks department’s office space and one for the conference rooms at NexusPark.

NexusPark is a joint venture between the city and Columbus Regional Health to transform the FairOaks Mall into a health, wellness and recreation center.

Perkins&Will and Taylor Brothers Construction had issued both certificates in March and May respectively — Mayor Mary Ferdon described the board’s action as a “formality.”

“We just felt like, since board of works has seen just about everything for NexusPark that I would bring these too you to get separate approvals.”

A certificate of final completetion will still be issued later, in the meantime the mayor said there is a “laundry list of like 18 pages of little stuff” that crews will be working on before then.

The city parks department conducted a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating their new headquarters in April.
