Looking Back – Aug. 15

Traffic direction arrows in Hope took a “new twist” so to speak as Tim Carman, a summer employee of the town, puts some artistic touches on one of the arrows at Washington and Main streets on the southwest side of the town square on Aug. 15, 1974.

2014

8-year-old Riley Croddy of Columbus won a pink ribbon for fourth place with her 2-month-old Alpine goat, Mystique, in the Alpine Dry Junior Doe competition at the Indiana State Fair. Croddy was the smallest participant in the contest and also had the smallest goat.

1999

Columbus triplets Zach, Megan and Emma Peters each showed a commercial ewe at the Indiana State Fair. Megan took eighth-place honors, Zach, 12th, and Emma, 15th.

1974

Libby Cameron was named the 1974 Aqua Queen during the annual Exchange Club Swim Meet and Water Show at Donner Pool. Cameron was sponsored by Coca-Cola Bottling and her Exchange Club Godfather was Jerry Robertson.
