Vern’s life was marked by unwavering dedication and hard work. An active member of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Vernon’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. He embodied the values of his church community through his actions and relationships.
Vern’s interests were as diverse as they were enthusiastic. He had a lifelong love affair with racing, embracing the thrills and camaraderie that came with the sport. Indiana University Basketball held a special place in his heart, and he followed every game with the passion only a true fan could possess. Vern’s competitive spirit was also evident in his love for playing euchre, where he was known for his clever strategies and friendly banter.
Those who knew Vern will remember his deep love for his animals. Each pet was not just an animal but a member of his family, cared for with the same love and attention he gave to his human relatives. His gentle way with all creatures spoke volumes about his character and his capacity for tenderness.
